Working pressure classification and operation method of fire truck fire pump

Mar 2nd,2022 614 Views

The classification of pump pressure provided by fire truck manufacturers can be divided into:

1) The rated working pressure of the low-pressure pump fire truck and pump is greater than or equal to 1.0Mpa and less than 1.4Mpa.

2) The rated pressure of medium pressure pump fire trucks and pumps is greater than or equal to 1.4Mpa and less than 2.5Mpa.

3) The low pressure rated pressure of medium and low pressure pump fire trucks and pumps is greater than or equal to 1.0Mpa and less than 1.4Mpa, and the rated pressure of medium pressure is greater than or equal to 1.4Mpa and less than 2.5Mpa. Medium and low pressure can be used in combination.

4) For high and low pressure pump fire trucks, the low pressure rated pressure of the pump is greater than or equal to 1.0Mpa and less than 1.4Mpa, and the high pressure rated pressure is greater than 3.5Mpa and less than or equal to 4.0Mpa. High and low pressure can be used in combination.

5) The rated pressure of the ultra-high pressure pump fire truck pump is greater than 10Mpa, which is mainly used for high pressure spraying.

1. Preparation before operation

1) All remaining water switches on the pump must be turned off;

(2) The foam fire truck must close the foam pipeline ball valve and foam proportioning mixer;

(3) Open the water diversion valve on the water inlet pipe of the water pump;

⑷ Close the water injection ball valve;

WARNING: Transmission oil level must be checked before pump operation, and oil must be added if insufficient. Otherwise, you are responsible for it!

2. Water diversion

When the water pump is pumping water, there are three different operation methods according to different water sources.

(1) Operation when the tank is supplied with water;

Start the fire pump, open the butterfly valve from the tank to the water inlet pipeline of the water pump, and open the water outlet ball valve. At this time, adjust the hand throttle to adjust the speed of the water pump to the required flow and pressure.

(2) Operation of fire hydrant when supplying water;

① Take out the suction pipe (or hose, water collector) and fire hydrant

② Connect the water inlet of the fire pump to the fire hydrant with a suction pipe (or hose or water collector).

③ Use the fire hydrant  to open the fire hydrant valve, so that the water flow of the fire hydrant enters the pump, start the fire pump, open the water outlet ball valve, adjust the hand throttle, and adjust the speed of the pump to the required flow and pressure.

Note: When using fire hydrant to supply water, the switch of the vacuum meter must be turned off first, otherwise the vacuum meter will be washed out.

(3) Operation when diverting water from rivers, ponds and wells;

① Take out the suction pipe, water filter, and suction pipe

② Connect the suction pipe to a suitable length, install a water filter at the end of the suction pipe, install the other end of the suction pipe on the water inlet of the fire pump, and sink the end of the installed water filter into the water source.

Note: There should be no air leakage at each connection of the suction pipe; the water filter sinks into the water source, and the distance from the sink to the water source is about 0.5 meters from the upper end of the water filter to the water surface. But at the same time, it should not touch the sludge at the bottom of the river to prevent inhalation of sludge and debris, causing blockage of the suction pipe and damage to the fire pump. During the water diversion operation, the water inlet butterfly valve must be closed first.

③ Start the fire pump, turn on the power switch of the water pilot, and the electromagnetic clutch is engaged. Start the piston pump to work, adjust the hand throttle to the rated input speed, the piston pump will soon form a vacuum in the suction pipe and the pump cavity, introduce the water into the low-pressure stage impeller, and the water pressure will lead to the pressure switch of the water guide on the water outlet. After the water outlet pressure reaches 0.2Mpa, the electromagnetic clutch is automatically separated, the piston pump also stops working, and the fire pump starts to discharge water. At this time, the power switch of the water pilot is turned off.

④ Adjust the hand throttle to adjust the speed of the water pump to the required flow and pressure
